“Let me drive.”

Susan Lilley drives around central Florida looking for poems and essays in the mossy, azalea-lined avenues of the past and the sun-baked thoroughfares of post-Disney Orlando. She teaches literature and writing to smart kids at a fine preparatory school and is an adjunct professor at Rollins College. Her first chapbook, Night Windows, is the co-winner of the 2006 Yellow Jacket Poetry Contest. She was the 2009 winner of the Rita Dove Poetry Award, and a recipient of a Florida Individual Arts Fellowship. Her recent collection, Satellite Beach, is out from Finishing Line Press. Her work can be found in such journals as The Southern Review, Drunken Boat, The Florida Review, Slipstream, Poet Lore, New Madrid, and Apalachee Review. Motor vehicles appear in roughly 75% of her work.
